Shoot me now!!! Intercooler and Charge pipe question

I thought this was a dumb question so I have been searching and looking at pics but I cannot find a single answer. I am trying to figure out what the holes on the stock intercooler go to, if they are necessary or if I can just plug them. One pic looked like it was going the top of the intake manifold. Also what is the 2nd hole for on the charge pipe. I know one is for the Air Bypass, but what is the other one? The reason I asked im going to get a pipe made to take the place of that one and mount my blitz bov, but I dont know if I need that other hole made as well, since I dont know what it is for.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!

one goes to the AWS valve on the top of the intake manfiold (biggish nipple near the BAC valve). It's for accelerated warm up, you can get rid of the valve. the other one is for a valve on the back of the upper intake manifold that raises the idle for power steering (or so I've heard). I'm not sure if the nipple is actually on that valve or on the UIM right next to it.

I've gotten rid of both the valves and capped those 2 holes.

That would be the ASV (Air Supply Valve), and it does add air into the system when the P/S is being used. One of the nipples on the intercooler connects to a nipple on the top of the UIM via a short hose, and the valve is supplied through a path in the casting. I can also say that the ASV is not really necessary. I don't (and can't) use one on my swapped car, but the P/S still only has a tiny effect on my idle speed.

I see. So in short I can block off on the Intercooler and call it a day? Now what about the two holes on the charge pipe? I know one is to the Air bypass, but what is the other exactly?

Thanks for your help guys

yeah, pretty much.

one is the air bypass valve (which you need) I would just get an aftermarket BOV and put it on the intercoooler piping somewhere.

The other is the air intake for the bypass air control valve (or BAC valve) which stock I think just raises your idle when you turn on your AC. I have my megasquirt ECU controlling the BAC valve to control my idle in general. If you don't block off that valve you would have to connect it to the new IC pipe or you could just put a little filter on it if you have a map sensor based EMS.

Ok great, So I can pretty much block everything on the intercooler then, get a straight charge pipe for my blitz bov.

Thanks alot. That cleared up everything
