Shitty night at the drags, with a little good.

Went to the 1/8th tonight, and most of my runs sucked, I couldn't get the launch like I have before. I think the track was too hot, I don't know. I did however beat my old record once the sun went down. Old was 9.914.

It was a good run. I just wish I could be consistent.

Car is an 87 Base with K&N and downpipe/presilencer and racingbeat cat back. No Emmissions

I mean, I don't mean to seem like an ***, I would congratulate you on your run, but 1/8 mile is foreign to me.. I'm not sure what a decent time is, or what a time would be for a stock car like yours in the 1/8..

I race the 1/8th here because its only 10-15 min from my place and the nearest 1/4 is over an hour away. Someone else on here said "1/2 the distance, 3/4 the fun." Besides the only thing differnt about the quarter (for me anyway) would be shifting from 3->4.

A conversion from 1/8th to 1/4 is:

1/8th ET + .22 / .655 = Estimated 1/4 time

not perfect but close I guess.

Ahh ok I see.. up here there is no 1/8 mile strips, only 1/4. We do have 1/8 races, but since the track is 1/4, everyone just races 1/4.

Same here, there is a class that does 1/8th mile, but they just run half the track. I don't see the point of it with a stock or close to stock car. I do 70 mph on a daily basis without noticing. Oh well, to each their own.

Are you seriously asking this??

Because some people dont have a 1/4 mile track in their area, Im sure they would run 1/4 mile if they had the chance.

1/8 mile is cheaper to make, so there are more of those popping up than full 1/4 miles.

1. Don't bring grudges from another thread.
2. Read the ENTIRE thread before responding:

What was your 60ft? And how were you launching? It makes a huge difference.

zinx, I was at the 1/4 mile track myself yesterday racing with my brothers 85 mustang 434 alcohol fuelled drag car.

There was some guys running 1/8th mile races.

An 89 Corsica (GMs 3.1L v6) ran 11.39.

A 96 Civic HB (1.6L) ran 12.20.

I think it's safe to say your doing well.

Theres also a class of junior dragsters, These kids running 1 cylinder OHV engines, but they are the same body style as a real dragster. These things weigh in at no more than 200 lbs, and some of them run Nitro for fuel.

Best ET one of them made was 8.89.

But Junior Dragsters are a totally different class.

BTW, my brothers mustang ET in the 1/4 mile was 10.09. I'm sure we could have entered the 9's, but the track was terrible, and when the weather finally got good, an 8 second corvette crashed his car and another car trying to salvage a run.. what a shame..

2.49 60ft was my best, but i was just dropping the clutch. i know the best way to launch is slip the clutch hard, but i jsut cant stand burning my clutch. what 1/8th mile times should i expect with a 69mph trap speed?
