Shifting to 2nd in high rpms

When im shifting from first to second at high rpms it makes this scratching sound, it makes that sound like you trying to throw the car into reverse in like 3rd gear. Anyone know why it does this? And it only does it going from first to second. Oh by the way its a 1990 GTU. Thanks for any help

Tranny. Redline MT-90 is good. DO NOT USE Redline MTL!!!!!!!! Is is too thin, and can cause big time damage!!!! Use only Redline MT-90, or Royal Purple 75w to 90w. I run Royal Purple 85W, and my synchros are like butter. No more grinds, and beautiful shifter feel!!

The 1st to 2nd gear ratios are really too wide apart to do ultra-quick shifts at redline.&nbsp I tend to short-shift under 6.5kRPM or wait a split-second just to let the synchros do their work...

Good call. When I shift at or above 8k, I usually wait a 1 count before I complete the shift.
