Shifter return spring - Turbo II

I’ve checked a lot of the threads on the shifter return spring, and even though a lot of them have great photos and information, I am struggling to fix an issue I kinda brought upon myself . When putting in my new shift boots, I accidentally pushed the shifter return spring to the right instead of the left. Of course, it became floppy/loose and no longer worked. I tore the shifter down again yesterday to put in the last replacement bushing, and spent a good 30 minutes trying to get the spring to work. It doesn’t appear to be broken, and I did get it to be mounted correctly according to the pictures online, but it just doesn’t seem to apply enough pressure to move the shifter to middle. I tried bending it a bit to make sure I didn’t bend it the other way too much messing around with it, but that didn’t seem to fix it. Is it fixable, or should I just pull it out and replace it? Thanks!
