The bushing often overlooked doesnt exist too, so you can't get it.

Cut it lengthwise so the shifter tip ball will fit.
Insert it in the selector rod pocket.

I would be interested in getting a hold of that plastic insert. Mine broke.
I belive that unfortunately, it is a perminant part of the shifter.
Does anyone have any cool ideas on fixing that plastic part?
(This is on my S5 NA, I noticed an S4 TII did not have that part (Could have just taken off for the hills)

It's a combination of things, and the mysterious bushing that is not existant for Zenki models is not the culprit.
Mazda tried all kinds of tricks to get it to be quiet.
All Kouki shifters come with a plastic lined groove for the dowel pin.
Stock shift levers are two-piece design with a rubber isolation bushings between the two parts.
Most aftermarket, short shifters (levers) are one piece and can make more noise.
If your shifter bushings are shot, REPLACE THEM.
It could be your transmission mounts are bad - REPLACE THEM.
It could be your engine mounts are bad - REPLACE THEM.

I have fabricated a keyway bushing from some scrap brass plate.
I think the brass came from a residential door strike. (works good - lasts a long time)
That is a smart idea!
How did you do it though? I dont comprehend quite what you are talking about.
Also, are you saying the S5s have the 'bushing often overlooked'? Where would I get one if that is the case?

Is this what were are talking about for the mysterious bushing?

Description
BUSHING, ALUMINUM SHIFT
Notes
Replaces the stock plastic bushing which can wear quickly under racing conditions. A worn shifter bushing causes increased wear to synchro rings which can result in serious damage to other trans components. Aluminum bushings are not available for 1981-86 RX-7's. Fits 3rd gen RX-7 and all Miatas.
