shifter question

should the shifter beable to move up and down slightly when the clutch is bad and the engine is not running?

Yeah my car does that also.....The shifter going up and down..only when I pull it up or down...it only does it then. Not to sound like a echo but the shifter bushings are bad. I think I am just going to get a short shifter..i believe they come with all new bushings.
