Shifter Problems

So Im finishing my tranny swap from NA to T2 clutch flywheel tranny driveshaft rear end and I'm having shifter problems. The shifter just spins when I tried to screw the shift **** on. The other problem is I cant get it to go Into 1st or 2nd at all. It went into other gears after some light forcing but I just can't get it to go over to 1st and 2nd it's like it won't go over far enough for me to push it up or down

Sounds to me like you need new shifter bushings! Does it feel really loose?

Open the shifter area back up. The shifter should not spin at all. Could be the shifter itself came apart (it's two piece from factory), or it's installed terribly wrong. There is a notch on the shifter that lines up with a notch protruding from the shifter area on the transmission.
