Question shifter noise

Hi,
The shifter of my 86 wont stop make noise at high speed. I think it's the vibration of something that make that. I pulled shift **** on highway and the noise still there. So it's something else that make noise. Someone had already had this problem.

Thanks

Alex

What kind of noise? If it sounds like a high pitched whine, you probably need gear oil.

Could be the **** or the rubber boots that go around the shift lever. If they are torn up really bad it could be causing it. That or the shifter bushings. Those are the things I did when I had the problem and it is gone now.

could it be just a normal noise and your shifter bushings and/or rubber shifter booties are all worn out thus making it so you hear noise from it when it should be all sealed up?

My shifter makes a burbling noise when I hit high RPMs, any idea what that might be?

I also have a shifter noise, but It's with my new Mazdatrix shifter...Mazdatrix says that one in every three RX-7's develop shifter noise, and that it's actually pretty normal and nothing to be worried about...<<shrugs>>

I have the mazdatrix shifter in my TII. I dont have any noise or viberation and I really love it . Really short throws and nice and tight almost like a video game shifter.

i have a noise during shifting. Its so wierd that no one has ever been able to tell me what it is so i just leave it be. I hear the noise during light acceleration in any gear and then always in fifth gear at low throttle. And it always goes away if i press down on my accelerator. Have no clue what it is but ive had to get used to the noise cuz it will not go away.
