Shifter moving up and down

My shifter moves up and down when I brake hard, like for a stoplight. Its had an auto>5spd swap and it doesn't use any tranny mounts, just this plate with 2 bolts that holds the tranny to the chassis lol. I know my shifter bushings are shot becuase its very loose and sloppy. Can really worn out shifter bushings cause it to move up and down like that?

thanks for the help

sound a bit more serious than just the shifter bushing/springs to me...dose your trans make noise on accel and deceleration? and if it dose is it loudest in fourth gear?or are you just rolling to a stop with it in neautral?

My S4 had no bushings in it, to where, literally, the shifter moved up and down at leats an inch and a half. And, U said u have no tranny bushings, Id put som ebushings in there, as well as new shifter bushings, an dsee what that does for ya.

Yeah it makes a slight whine when I accelerate and at idle until I push the clutch in, from what I've reasearched its known to be the input shaft bearing. The clutch pp/disc/tob were all replaced and didn't fix it.

Thats cool, I could've sworn I read "if your shifter moves up and down you need these" on a shifter bushing listing on ebay once lol. I'll give it to the local rotary shop and see what they can do about it, thanks.
