Shift knobs: whatcha got?

I use Miata ***** exclusivly.
Weighted nice (around 200 grams) so the shifter never rattles and a good size, and leatherette so you don't burn you hand on hot days, or from the tranny heat coming up the shaft.

I am using a RAZO 340R 'heavy' ****. It weighs 340 grams, uses interchangable sleeves to fit and sits very, very low. Perfectly round ball with no neck on bottom. Black in color. I like it, and the weight helps to throw it into gear.

I heard two things about the Mazdaspeed ones. One was that they screw on. Two was that they only fit S5s. I have an S4 with what appears to be a short shifter. Can anyone confirm/deny that?
Icemark-got any pics of your shift ****(s)?

I use the stock FD **** for my S5. It's leather wrapped, is about 3.5 inches long out of the boot, really short matches my interior perfect. These are the same as the leather wrapped mazdaspeed ***** except they don't have the mazdaspeed stitching. Im almost positive that MS ***** won't fit on S4's.

I use a genaric Honda "Type R" copy (don't laugh ) back in the day for a Honda I used to have. It's gunmetal coloured with a dark red shift pattern... but I bought it because I like tiny shift ***** since I'm more of a pistol-grip shift kind of person. Best of all, it was $12 shipped. It sat around for a while, until I realised I had the tools to tap it for my S4. I've been using it ever since.

Crappy ractive shift **** thats held on with the crappy bolts at the bottom
The previous owner had already did this, and the threading was pretty badly screwed up so i just followed suit.
To be honest i dont see the point of a "high quality" name brand shift ****. Its not like the damn thing is gonna be experiencing a lot of mechanical stress or anything...

I tell you what...we don't rag you on your cheap crap, and you don't complain on why people pay extra for something they didn't need to.

Pistol grip that I had the the machince shop at tech school make for me. Uses old 1911 grip panels and I couldnt be happier. Its cool as crap. Ill try to take a pic of it when I get my car all back together.
I have also used a 8 ball and as big as it is its damn comfortable.
but as far as like an accual **** I prefer the nismo one out out the 350z.

show off, i thought that was on your skeleton of a seven?
anyways, i like my stock S5 shift ****, im not sure if all S5's got the leather wrapped shift ****, i dont think the sport gotem, but whatever
I guess i could never justify spending 50-70$ on a shift ****, and whatever else it costs to get a thread adapter, if im gonna spend that much i might as well get a short shifter off of ebay or mazdatrix.

I don't care for short shifters myself, and I love the placement and feeling.
It uses a plastic insert which you just screw on until it stops.
If you screw it all the way down until it contacts the shift lever, the metal-to-metal contact can drive you crazy.
I thread the shift **** down and then back it off a few turns.
Because the shift **** is metal, it gets kinda hot in the sun.
I try to be careful when the sun is shining.

i know that sound!, except mine was from a cheap *** apc shift **** i bought from work for fun, i really did like how it felt, it was just straight and black, but, when the plastic things that came with it didnt work i just wrapped a bunch of electrical tape around the threads of the shifter and jammed the shift **** on there, it was ghetto as ****, but it did work for a few weeks, until the tape kinda shrank from the heat and it rattled like a bastard
One day the rattling metal sound drove me so crazy that i ripped it off and threw it out the window. lol, if i ever get a another shift **** its going to thread on, or ill make it thread on

i have owned 3 different type ***** and i have since went back to the original. I have yet to own a miata **** and i hear that they work pretty darn good. I also like the rx-8 **** too. But all in all the original **** works just fine. I think this is a good thread to illustrate how we cant leave well enough alone!
