Shift *****: whatcha got?

Who is running what kind of shift ****? I've had some issues with a Momo and the Corksport. Anything with the the bolts on the bottom to hold it on sucks. So what have you got, how does it attach, and how low/high does it sit?

I hate short shifters. I bought a fake leather one from pep boys and the pile of **** came loose and I had to glue the ******* thing together and duct tape it to the shifter. Pardon my french but try driving with a loose *** shift ****. I just don't see reason in spending $50+ on a shift ****. But then again I'm sure they aren't nearly the pieces of crap they sell at auto parts stores. And I can't find a single black leather boot. All I find are dipshit colors with gay *** light up shifter *****.

I found it on nasioc.com, a Subaru forum. It was on my Impreza, and I rethreaded it.

Flamin, a Short shifter isn't a shift ****.. You can also buy shift boots that thread onto momo ***** if the sloppiness isnt your style..

i took the top half of the shifter off leaving just the short 1/2 inch steel shank off the ball joint. From there I drilled holes for the set screws in the shank, and used a straigh aluminum shift **** that is more like a handle like a 1.25 inch diameter 4 inch long piece of metal. I love it the bottom of the shift know is almost flush with the shift boot trim

I found a posting somewhere sorry I forget. I am in the process of buying one of his custom made leather shift boots. He will do any color with any stitch color you want. He can also sell you the trim plate also email him for the link to his work vertrx7@yahoo.com. I am paying $50 for the boot and a new trim plate.

Your right about the classic set screw attachment on many ***** is not adequate.

I like the old school wood ball. It grips good & stays cool.

To beef up the set screw, I tap the 10-32 for a larger ¼-20 set screw.
I also drill the ball so it sits down a little lower.
Filing a small flat on the shifter gives the set screw a good bite.
A short piece of heater hose insulates the lever under the ****.

Shortens the shifter quite a bit.
I don't care for short shifters myself, and I love the placement and feeling.

It uses a plastic insert which you just screw on until it stops.
If you screw it all the way down until it contacts the shift lever, the metal-to-metal contact can drive you crazy.
I thread the shift **** down and then back it off a few turns.

Because the shift **** is metal, it gets kinda hot in the sun.
I try to be careful when the sun is shining.
