Shift **** Help
I know this sounds really bad . . . but I can't get my 87 TII shift **** off. It seems like it doesn't twist off like normal shift ***** . .. at least mine doesn't. Is there some screw or bolt I have to loosen first? Any help apreciated. Thanks
Ryan

Nope the shift **** is just bolted on. It will just unscrew, if you put enough effort into it....
If the car is very old, and the tranny has overheated a couple of times, maybe some plastic melted and has "glued" the ****. May need some more effort....

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Yes on the series 4 cars there is a nut just under the shifter cover at the **** that must be loosened.
If it is really tight I suggest getting a adjustable wrench and holding the round metal body of the shift **** assembly while using a 14 or 15 mm wrench (I don't remember which just off the top of my head) on the nut itself.
Once the nut is loosened the **** unscrews real easy.
