Remove the flywheel, then remove the front eccentric nut, hub, cover, gears, etc. Remove all 18 tension bolts a little at a time. Remove rear iron, then housing, then rotor. Lift eccentric slightly and turn intermediate iron a little while lifting it off the shaft. Lift out shaft, remove housing, remove rotor...

You SERIOUSLY NEED a shop or Haynes manual.

You're probably fine as far as not damaging the engine, but it will be a serious bitch to get that flywheel nut off now...and you'll have to be careful doing it as to not damage the eccentric and intermediate housing.

There is a great rebuild video at http://www.rotaryaviation.com that is worth the $30 again and again.

Oh and on another NOTE to all the non-premix guys I will be asking James for his digicam to show you all the effects of the OMP system and how it does actually only lubricate the middle of the rotor, seal, and housing. the sides of the housing are not as clean as the spot from the oil injector. And another thing the oil injector could never possible get the job done if you see the size of the whole that the oil comes out of "pin needle sized thing" I am now more confident that I made the right choice with running Pre-Mix

Well ****.

Your right on about that flywheel nut needing to come out first.

Yeah, that is probally going to be a problem. So you can slip the shaft out with the flywheel nut still in place?

Just a random idea. Would it be posible to cut the exentric shaft nut off? Just section it away with a dremel tool? Being very carful not to mess up the shaft threads?

Yeah, there are no pictures of me because I look like I am 13 too

James

Did you see the pics of my spotless 250,000 KM+ engine that has run for 16 years with the stock metering oil pump? Hardly any wear on anything. It's all about maintenance.

Nope. The eccentrics on the shaft prevent it.

Sure, but that is a serious pain in the ***.

The flywheel nut is a 54mm. A 2 1/8" can also be used. Sears.. $22.99 You really need to use a t-puller to remove the flywheel itself. It's a wonderful exercise without one.

Kinda different with an automatic. There is not a flywheel there is a a flex plate. And that is held to the shaft by a bracket with 6 bolts (I think).

Then that bracket is held to the shaft by the big ol nut.

you dont need a t-puller, just _carfully_ hit it with a dead blow hammer or any other soft faced sludge hammer one or two times off center. If your not carfull and get distracted by a friend you can easly destory a rear plate like i did, other than that you should be fine

Thats the wasiest way to do it. I put mine in the back of my explorer, took it to a semi repair shop, asked a guy to do it, and if he could put it back on later. Het got the nut off in about 5 seconds, I went home, removed the flywheel, had it resurfaced, took it back to the shop, and had the guy put it back on. He was pretty cool about it, and refused to take the $ I was going to give him for the favor. Save yourself the PITA and take it there.

Is there any "brand/type" of parts cleaner I should get? Or whatever one will do? I just don't want to melt my rotor. that would be bad. hehe
