Shakey engine
I own a S4 '87 T2. Racing Beat full catback, fuel cut defenser, walbro 255 fuel pump, & a cone filter. I usually don't race my car, but my friend just got an IS 300..he talked me into racing him...went two time ..of course he lost both times ...so we left on my way home i realize my temp meter was up to about 75% so i pulled over and let the car sit for a while ,the temp meter went back to normal ..i waited a little longer then i turned the car off i let it sit for about another 15 20 minutes .then i turned it back on ,everything was fine .i gave it a rev to bout 5k then let go of gas ..and the engine just started to shake horribley ..idle start going down up down up ..then i turned it off ...try to start it back up it wouldnt start so a couple of my friends had to help me push start the car it turned over started ..but shook violently so i reved it up again ..and held it at 4 thousand rpm .nd for some reason it didnt shake but when it got back down between 0 and 2 or 3 k you can fell it shake. i took it around the block it just has no power ...im just hoping its not the apex seals...i dont know....does any one know whats wrong with it...can sone one tell me? ..thank you =(

well i didnt do any compression test yet but,i just started her up ...she hesitated to start but turned over and went to the 3k warm up thing..when it finally got down to idle it started shaking violently again..i took it around the block, and she DOES not want to pick up takes a long time to even get to 25...so im wondering...what eles can be wrong with it besides the seals blown...and if it is blown is it better to rebuild it or just buy another engine..i dont really have alot of money ...and if i do i wouldnt be on here askin so much questions lol so yea....lets pretend i have some money how much would it cost to get a good engine or the best one for an 87 t2..street ported brigde ported ..i dont kno im new at this..my uncle past her down as a gift he was the original owner ..when he gave her to me ,she was at 108k now shes at 114k and yea i just wanted to kno what is the best way to do this...and how and where would i get the parts for it ../ thanks

just rebuild the motor you have. if you buy a used engine you'll have to end up rebuilding it down the road anyways. alot of those engines sit for years and years, without knowing how good they were prior to being pulled. on top of that

compression check before you do anything else. it sounds like it is blown or has very low compression but most likely blown. Your gonna have to rebuild it. Its gonna cost you around 2000 for someone to do it for you, so do it yourself. if you are low on money and dont trust your skills in a rebuild just get a jspec. my jspec engine has 102psi on each rotor right now and runs perfect, but am lucky and got it from a shop that doesnt really get rotary engines but they actually compression tested it and leakdown tested it. some places are wack, so you just gotta get lucky. My first motor came from jspecautosports and the motor was seized. best way to go is rebuild though. Thats what I'm gonna do after I find a rebuildable core. and use my current engine as a spare.
