Shakes and noise

Im sure you have all heard this before-- (I searched I swear!!) but ive got issues:

When at idle (at a stoplight or such) I can sometimes feel my car shaking a little. It isnt the vibration sort of shake but the sort of shake you get when a big truck passes you at high speed. It feels like the direction the rotors are spinning is causing the car to shake. I assume this could be old motor mounts but im just wondering if this could also be the driveshaft (though it only shakes in idle)?

Next ive got the cold start issue, I have yet to check the FSM to see visually if it is removed, but im pretty sure something is broke as the car takes about 4 seconds to start, it wont rev to 3k, and ive got to keep a bit on the gas to keep it from dying on me. Though I believe the problem also ties into a sputter issue ive got which involves the car reving ~400 rpms up to 1500 and sputtering back down to 1k sometimes when I come to the stop, or when I put the car in netural and roll to a stop (btw is bad for a manual?). If this rev and sputter happens, I can put the car in 1st and feather the clutch to sorta force the rpms back to normal. Now some of you may be thinking 1k rpm isnt normal! But my tach does not go all the way down to 0 when the car is off, so I guess its miscalibrated or something.

Also, I searched-- but I cant for the life of me find out the procedure for checking compression with a tester for piston engines. I know I saw a procedure on this forum while researching the RX-7 before I bought it but I just cant find it. Though I suppose its good that I cant find it because I dont want to be dissapointed from low compression

It sounds like a hurt motor.
Do a compression test to confirm.
