setup and how much power I might gain

I have a 1986 GXl, assuming that my compression is good (I know my 6 ports are working), would this setup give me a decent power increase.

-RB header
-RB presilencer
-Bomz GT2 spec muffler (already have 2.5 piping)
-cheap intake w/adapter
-remove power steering
-remove air pump
-port intake manifold

Cas has 140,000 miles on it..but is in very good running condition. I'm going to do a compression test here soon, but I'm pretty confident that it will turn out good. If anyone with the similiar setup could give me a guess as to how much of a difference in power they noticed, or even dyno results, that'd be great. My engine doesn't have any housing porting either. Thanks.

any input on whether its even worth the money? The whole exhaust setup is like a little less that 500. Porting my manifiolds is ofcourse free (just time consuming) as well as pullin my p/s and air pump. Intake is like 14 bucks. ANy thoughts or someone with similiar setup?

My setup is kinda similar, I have a high-flow cat instead of the midpipe though. Yes you will feel a noticable gain in power , and it will be pretty quick. But then, youll get sick of reading the kills section about how people in their FDs and T2s are racing vipers and C5s, while your out messing with civics and V-6 mustangs. Then youll get fed up and descide to sell your N/A and get something boosted. Trust me, Im there

Most NA's with a full complement of bolt-ons do around 140-160 to the ground. Past 160 and you have to get wacky .

Thanks guys..that power increase was what I expected. I would love to have boost, but would like to wait till I have a beater car that I can drive everyday so I dont have to depend on my turbo car. I think for now spanking most hondas will be ok.

Yeah the GXL is one of the heavier models, mine does not have 2+2 seating though. Sunroof, power windows, all that add weight.

I'll do a bit of weight reduction inside...gonna pull p/s and my air pump as well to clean up motor and free up some horsepower and weight.

Hey Matlock...when I talked to you awhile back you said you had the fc with full exhaust? Is it a blue s5? Saw a car that looks just like mine but it looked to be a s5, at Chevron, he gave me the thumbs up as he was leaving. Had a single exhaust...

Nope! Mines red with dual RB's. Was the guy in the blue car, asian? I think I've seen that car too. I drove around with him once, we never talked only gave a quick thumbs up.

hmm...I'm pretty sure he was, but not positive, the car had that mirror tint on it so I couldn't see to good. I'm ordering my bomz muffler right now, next will be that RB header and pre-silencer, still tyring to figure out how im gonna get someone to bolt/weld it all in for me. I'm a pretty good welder, and have access to equipent at school, but dont know about getting all the pipping, etc. If I just take the exhaust pieces to a muffler shop, header, pre-sil., and muffler along with my old dual exhaust, could they make my new exhaust looking at the old one? Then I could take it home and put it togehter. Any suggestions.

I have an 86 gxl, with the following weight reduction:
- cago compartments instead of rear seats
- a race pipe instead of my cats
still have ps, pw, ac, ap, spare tire, 24lb aluminum wheels [heavy *** 18's > ]

and my car with me, and a half of tank of gas in it weighs exactly 2886

subtract 48lbs for gas (6lbs/gallon x 8 gallons)
subtract 165lbs for me

total= 2672

not too damn shabby if i do say so myself!

Damn. My sport with me and a 1/4 tank of gas is 2620lbs. I'm 150!

The header and presilencer will bolt up easy. I think all you'll need is a pipe from the presilencer to the muffs. You could probably have that measured and made. That way you don't have to weld, and you can alter it if need be.

I wonder how much power you loose trying to turn those big *** wheels...??

Nice weight though...I take it your 6 ports are not working since you have that race pipe? Or did you use another route to open them besides exhaust pressure from the line that was on your cat?

Thank you sir..that idea will prob. work, because I believe the RB pre-sil. has flanges on both ends...thanks for the idea.

Also..I haven't had any experience with muffler silencers..when on, does the sound go back to almost stock? I'd think when there on you'd get worse gas mileage and obviously power loss....I need it on when I leave and come home to keep neighbors and parents happy.

****, unless the truck station by the base is inaccurate. That is pretty light. Now if I could find a cheap N/A transmission that doesn't grid, I may be able to accelerate!

Are you talking about those things that go in the mufflers? The only experience I've had with those were on a Stealth. It made it quiter, but at high RPM's it didn't really make a difference.
