Setting throttle on SAFC II

How do you set the throttle on the safc II so it reads position correctly?

I'm assuming you have it wired already and wired to the tps? Yes. So you just go to ETC and look at Sensor Settings and stare at the voltage for the tps (throttle). It should read one volt (1Volt DC). That is with a fully HOT engine. IF it does not read one volt with a HOT engine, then turn the tps screw until it reads ONE VOLT (1VOLT). Done.

With anything less than a HOT ENGINE, the reading will be somewhat more than ONE VOLT DC. On a cold, cold day it might read 1.8 or so, until the engine gets HOT, then it will read ONE VOLT if set right.

The reading changes votage readings due to the thermowax device, as well it should. See the FSM for the workings of the thermowax/fast idle screw etc.

A series four tps reaches its full output at much less than full throttle. IF you have ever looked under the hood you might have noitced how the tps becomes fully extended almost at the same time the secondary throttle plates start to open. Quite a distance from full open throttle.

Quite a distance from full open throttle. You might have noticed that you can almost reach seventy mph in fifth before the tps fully extends, just using the primary throttle opening. Make sense? Did to me when I wrote it.

you need to floor and release the pedal a few times for it to calibrate. if you just put it in and haven't used it yet...

if you have an S4 and you are talking about the fact that it says 100% when you are only at 30%. that is normal and there is nothing you can do. just set your low point at 98% and high at 99% and don't worry about it.
