Setting the initial set connector makes the idle go UP?

Setting the initial set connector makes the idle go UP?
The hell? I think I have some vacuum leaks again, or something, since my idle is a bit wonky, and changes a lot (more than it should) when I press and let off of the brakes.
What's wierd is that when I hook up the initial set connector, it idles nicely and responds to adjustments, but when I take it off it drops and sort of just floats around 600 or so and doesn't respond to adjustment.
Unplugging the BAC didn't seem to make a difference...
I noticed my new brake vacuum hose had slid down a bit, and that the clamp was a little loose (outer diameter is a bit smaller), but I put it back into place and the clamp seemed more than tight enough to not cause any leaks.
It doesn't really make much sense to me... I didn't have any leaks a few days ago until I tried to start adjusting my crap to get rid of the persistant afterburning.
