Angry it was set at 1800rpms at idle now after 500 miles it went to 1500??

rebuild: 650 miles on it

the rx7 technichian set the car at 2k for the rebuild period. ( i guess he moved the speedo cable like unscrew it a lil i dont know ) anyways, the little screw on the troutle body was kinda loose so i tighten that bitch all the way down and my idle went to 1800. THat was after the first 200 miles on the rebuild. since then i took a road trip for 400 miles. the car was acting perfecto. today im getting out of parking garage and it dies out of nowhere. ( maybe i didnt let it warm up enough ) i dont know but i did noticed the idle went down to 1400-1500 at start up. im like what the ****?

anyways the car dies/stalls i try to start it nothing. i wait 5 min turn the key and it starts. 5 hours later i come back to get the car again i let it warm up for 5 min, drive for about a mile and it dies again im like what the ****!!, i put ebrake on let it sit for 5 min, turn key again and it starts.. now i have no idea what the hell is going on!! never stalelled before and now it seems to hate my face.

The car is leaking coolant from one of the radiator hoses maybe 2 which i forgot to tighten hard enough but i will tomorrow and its leaking tiny oil drops from the oil filter due to maybe bad orings ( 16 year old ) or i didnt screw the nuts hard enough.

Did you remove your dashpot, this could be causing the idle to die. As far as the idle the little screw controls it, if you tighten it a little bit you can adjust where you want the idle.

On freshly rebuilt motors I do not think that long drives are recommend unless you are varying your RPMs but not pushing the car too hard. You should rack up the miles in doing city driving to break in your engine properly.

Also it is common for rebuilt engines to build more compression as they as being broken so your idle may change daily.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

you are correct. I just rebuilt mine, I have 400 miles on it right now(all city) and idle has changed a bit since I first started it up. Mostly its just not as bouncy as before, but it's a little lower.
