serious electrical issues

ive had this car for qutie a while now, and i got it from a idiot who molested every part of this car he could get his greasy hands on, and now that it runs good, it has random electrical cluster *****, run great one minute, then stall out, shut down and it seems to have some sort of serious short as when you turn it over all the lights in the car will flicker and flash, sometimes it will kill the tach/speedometer for a while. sounds like it wants to turn over but isnt getting steady voltage, in the past i gave up on it went out to it the next day and it started right up ran great, it has done this while sitting still idling in a garage, where ti worked died next daty ran fine or on the street just died, but it only dies once the car reaches a slow speed or low rpm... the ******* previous own had cut the wiring harness & all sorts fo other thigns in an apparent attempt to get more power for his stereo versus just upgrading his alternator, which was also dead when i purchased the car, along with the starter, and his beautiful clutch job which he left all greasy to is was useless and also needed replacing, cut out half the wires to the speed sensitive steering box, oh yes this man was a real prodigy.. anyways, any help im going to try swapping the computer in it today since theres nothing else i can see left to try until i get a new harness in, which im hoping will solve the problem, any advice or if this has happened to anyone else, help would be greatly appreciated

It's going to be hard to help you without any specific questions.

Your most useful resource will be the Factory Service Manual. You can download a copy from the FAQ. It contains the full wiring diagrams for the car. The Haynes manual is also good resource if you just want a quick reference.

Hey, maby its the cut and spliced wire that powers everything in the car but the starter which consists a stripped wire pulled though a d-ring connector with no crimp, solder, or anything at all

how many times to me and brian have to point it out
