series 5 turboII trouble..

..motor is in an FC and bone stock with the exception of 3" free-flow exhaust.
the problem is that the car starts/idles fine, but when driving and WOT anywhere from 2nd to final gear there is significant "stuttering" (the only word that seemed to fill the task of describing this problem, "sputtering" would give the wrong idea and it actually feels like the car is starving for either air or fuel at the instant it occurs)..

I've had the exact problem with a GSL-SE i own with an RB20ET, and it turned out to be a generally sub-standard fuel system, from dirty tank to insufficient capacity lines and poor rail pressure, when i resolved all those probs, the RB lump worked fine, which lead me to think the 13B may be experiencing such problems...

I've gotten an adjustable fpr and some hi-pres fuel lines and installed/replaced as necessary, set the idle pressure to around 45psi and the idle for some reason sounded alot 'healthier' (as compared to some great working series 4s and 5s i've known) and the problem occurred less but at slightly higher rpms in the powerband

If it helps, the problem happens under load only and the car revs as it should when neutral save for the backfires.

My only other ideas were maybe poor plug wires and plugs and/or a dirty MAF?

any sensible advice will be greatly appreciated.

Are you running a FCD? If not, your are likely hitting fuel cut due to boost creep from your exhaust. A cheap fix is to buy a FCD but you'll still be boosting out of control. The best way to remedy the situation is to remove the turbo and port the wastegate. Better do something fast or you're going to turn your engine into a paperweight.
