You can easly fit 6.5's in the rear! Otherwise you have the right sizes. Most of the S5's have the 6.5 in the door only playing low pass freq's. So it is up to you how you want to deal with that. I just said F- the dash speakers cause you cant hear them anyway and ran those leads to the door jamb. That way my 6.5's in the door are fullrange! It sounds great!
Oh yeah I have components. With the tweeter mounted in the door panel right by the grill in the top of the door panel

BTW - I don't use rear speakers at all.

In my '90 GXL it was 6.5" doors, 4" dash, and 4" rears, but if you're going to do the rear speakers, put in 6.5"s. They'll fit easily with a little modification. But remember: I've got those whacky "power" windows in mine, so it might not be the same as in yours. Also.... if I had to do it over again, I'd be tempted leave out the 4" dash. Don't hear them too much, but it's nice to have the bragging rights.
Catch you later.

Yo,
I'm actually running an aftermarket deck...do you think the door speakers are still running just low range? This is more complex that one would think.
I guess I'll forgo the dash speakers and concentrate on the front, and maybe re-do the rear.
So Zen, you think 6.5's all around?

1. Are you running an amp at all?
2. Imaging is key
3. If you like the stock look keep the 4" in the dash and run highs to them, run mid/low to the door and, pick up some 6.5" subs for the back (bass is unidirectional that is why you can place a single sub woofer in a room and not ruin your imaging) kicker used to make a great 6.5" sub I hope they still do

i have an 87 t2, it has 4" in the back and 4" in the dash, does it also have some speakers in the doors? and what do you have to do to fit 6.5 in the back, do you have to do anything to all the wires that plug into the speaker box? thanks

In my S4 (88 GXL) I have aftermarket 4" in the front (regulated to high freqs), 6.5" in the towers and a single 12" sub. To make the 6.5" fit in the towers, just chop away until they fit (is it true that the lower models came with 6.5" rears stock?) I had to run new wires to all my speakers from the deck and rip out all that factory amplifier BS to make it all work (and quite nicely, might I add.) I like.

Bass is unidirectional, but you must be carefull on which freq you play your bass, to much low freq on them and you can definetly pin point them out.

The speaker will try to play all info that is dierected to them. My suggestion is save your $$$ on the 4 inches and get some REAL nice component speakers (not necessary Infinity, I hate those, but that is just me). Here is a good set of speakers that won't ruin your wallet:
