series 4 NA driveshaft in a series 5?

will the series 4 NA driveshaft fit in a series 5 NA? i am asking to prevent me from jacking the car up and taking the damaged one out only to find that they are not interchangable.

Mazdatrix says no.RP says yes.I myself don't know.Mazdatrix told me they are different.I do think that the 86-88 has some sort of cover over the front yoke that the 89-92 does not.Maybe someone else knows for sure.

I don't see what the difference would be. An NA is an NA. The cover over the yoke means nothing really. I had a few that the covers got dented so I took them off.

yea.... i just checked the 88 fsm over the 89 fsm. they are almost exactly the same lengths, but the distance between the joint centers is different, and you are right about the yolk. dont know why i didnt look there first.

oops... i was looking at the 88 TII drive shaft. the NAs are the same, except the yolk cover. i dont, however, see anything about teeth count.

All NA RX-7s have the same teeth count. Same with the old school ribcase trannies. Only the TII (and probably the FD) should be different.
