series 4/5 radiator question

Exclamation series 4/5 radiator question

hi i was wondering if the series 4/5 radiators were the same? and also if the turbo ones were?

it looks like the turbo and NA versions are the same but the s4 and s5 versions are different according to the parts catalogs.

the S5 has the long neck on the left side, S4 doesn't.........Im sure there are other difference but that is the biggest one.

Also - the bolt locations are in the same place between the two series

I'm pretty sure the S4 is a little thicker aswell.

there is many differences between the radiators over the years but for the most part just about any FC radiator is interchangeable with the exception of the systems that use the pressure cap on the radiator vs the one on the top of the motor.

ah ok thanks. how do you tell which one is which? does the pressure cap on the radiator lead to the overflow bottle and the other does not? thanks

yes, some had the overflow hose from the filler on the radiator cap, some more rare ones had the overflow hose integrated into the coolant level sensor with a pressure cap located up near the RF headlight and others had a pressure cap and the overflow hose up near the thermostat, just try to stick with the configuration you have but you can switch it up as i have before so long as the configuration is accurate - 1 pressure cap with the overflow hose attached in the series.
