sensor problem?
sensor problem?
my 1990 gxl has problems starting and we were way off on what we suspected (not knowing all that much about rotaries yet =( but we're learning =) while we were at the parts store someone suggested that it was an air intake sensor
symptoms: hard to start...doesnt sound like its turning over but not starting it almost sounds like its having trouble turning over
it also starts stuttering when i give it too much gas but usually clears up at high rpm...occasionally the check engine light comes on and goes away when i let off the gas
had compression tested last week and thats good...it makes good spark...just had a new cat put on last week...also had the alternater and battery checked (just because i could) wondering what the problem is

No replies yet? Oh well. Is it possible that someone has messed with the crank angle sensor? Mabe turned it hither and dither? I've seen cars with that slow turnover symptom that was a result of the cas being off as in too much advance etc. Also could be a bum starter or the ground to the starter. Have you put a timing lite on it? Also are you REAL SURE that the plug wires are on correctly? The plugs have a T or L embossed nest to the plug hole. With the plugs out does the engine really whip over fast or does it drag? Sensor? Don't really think so . What have you done to the car prior to your problem? More clues please.
