Selling 89 Convertible

Well, I've made the decision to sell the car that I've owned since it was new and have babied for the past 13 years. This car is still a new car to me and I don't want to sell it - but it is very impractical with two kids and I don't have extra space to store the car.

If anyone is interested, here is some information on the car:

** 1989 Red Convertible**
29,800 actual miles - everyone one of them driven by me
Fantastic Condition - maybe none better
- Exterior is perfect - paint is perfect, no dings at all, no tears in top
- Interior is excellent - most switchgear replaced last fall, have always used

** Car is totally stock with exception of the following: **

1) Racing Beat polished stainless exhaust
- Installed last fall

2) Sound System: Replaced last fall - Looks totally stock with exception of head unit - all other components are hidden behind factory grills/covers. Components include:
- Sony CDX-M770 head unit (black panel, 5v preouts)
- Phoenix Gold XS6600 6 channel amp
- MBQuart RKC110 4" Coax speakers under dash
- MBQuart RKC116 6.5" Coax speakers in doors
- Headrest speakers and controls fully functional (although not really needed)
- Rockford Fosgate 10" HE2 subwoofer

3) Security System: Viper 800ESP
- Just about every option
- Creatively installed
- Will disclose details to purchaser

Anyone interested?

Dave

Is it a 5-speed?

Do you have any pics?

How much are you asking for it?

Yes, it's a 5-speed.

Yes, I have pics, but have to first scan them in - in the meantime just picture a very, very close to new red convertible and you have this car.

Price: I haven't decided yet. I won't let it go cheap (at least as RX-7s go), but I will be fair given what comes with the car. I am not a boastful person but I believe this car is as perfect as you are going to find in a totally stock convertible. Feel free to make an offer.

Dave

P.S. A few things I didn't mention:

1) The car is hard-wired for a Passport 8500 radar detector - no dangling cords. Radar detector will go with car.

2) The car had the 30,000 mile scheduled maintenance performed at 16,000 miles. Also, I had Redline synthetics put in transmission and differential near that time. Had the transmission and differential fluid drained and replaced at about 24,000 miles.

3) Car comes with a stock of Redline MT-90 (I think I have 8 - 9 quarts).

Did you put this in the NE and for sale sections too? It can't hurt to get a little more exposure.

I put it in the for sale section, but not the NE section - thanks for the advice!

I've often wondered if the 2+2 rear seats would fit into the convertible - just so you can have a 3rd baby seat

I was wondering the same thing. Is there any room back there at all?

None at all. If you are tall there isnt even any room for a bag with the top down. When it is up there is a little platform that you can put things on but that is it. Underneath that is the spare tire and jack.

Considering the way the top folds down, you'd either have to remove the entire roof assembly or only get use of a back seat when the top is up.

Remember the 2+2 seats fold down, so relocating the spare tire & 4.5 foot cover should provide enough room for them.

Mabey if you go "t-top" mode and put the hardtop in the trunk you could have the seats up

no baby seats in a 'vert

Their is a hatchback area when the top is up. When it is down there is no room. When the seats are ALL the way forward, there is about 5 inches between seat back and the top area. Of course no one could sit in the seats with them that far forward.
The ledge is higher than a coupe, it is built up to cover the emergency spare.
You could put a baby seat in the passenger side seat - no airbag over there!
Top up this is one of the largest convertibles available. Top down it is one of the smallest. The Z3 has a larger trunk.

Wow. That car sounds amazing. If I had the money I would be all over it.

Good lucking finding it a new home. I certainly hope whoever buys it continues to care for it so well.

So:

top up - 2+2 folded up, baby seat in 2+2

top down - baby seat in front, 2+2 folded down

that might work

I'm thinking though if you strip out most of the middle stuff underneath the top you might find enough room to do 2+2 up, top down, hard top removed, snap on boot, baby seat installed

hehe i think only way to fit the rear seats is to cut the ledge and have it sink in. then that would be a nice custom.
