anyone with experence rebuilding tII trans know how the select lock spindle goes back in?

it has notches that im assuming line up with the ball/spring that runs into it.



i installed it like pictured and the shifter seems to work fine, it returns to center, wich i assume is what its sopposed to make it do.

i am going to install the trans back in the car soon and dont want to pull the damn thing back out. the fsm is really fuzzey
