seeking suggestions for future reliability/performance mods
current setup:
- mild street port
- 2.5" DP, 3" silencer, 2.75" y-pipe out
- steady 10 PSI, or at least from what i see on my boost gauge
(tried porting wastegate but failed to - couldn't get hot side of turbo off, since the 13mm bolts were hitting the middle part of the turbo, to port inside the passages)
- FCD
- FD RP fuel pump (from rx7.com)
well, i know there's the option of going standalone or piggyback.
with lack of funds like everyone else, i was just thinking of settling down with the fuel controller.
of course, there's the SAFC, Rtek, etc.
i was thinking about getting the SAFC and upping the secondaries to 800cc to ensure that i'm not leaning out. then again,
i haven't checked my A/F levels and what not to see where i currently stand.
the whole point of porting the wastegate was to lower the boost,
and just have it set at ~8PSI just for the mean time w/ a boost controller until i decide what to do next.
unfortunately, that didn't happen.
...which is why ask the forum what to do next.
send my ECU to go towards rtek direction and just scoop up some 720s?
go with the SAFC + 800cc injectors and get a tune?
my main concern is making sure that my motor doesn't kill itself from boosting 10 PSI.
supposedly, the FCD prevents fuel cut, but only to a certain extent.
i don't know if the fuel being dumped at that boost level is being compensated for the amount of air in.
forgive me if any info i say is inaccurate.
only learning from my mistakes will make up for my ignorance.
much help is definitely appreciated.

Is this a T2? or an N/A swapped turbo?
I'd take your car somewhere and see what your A/F is when you are boosting 10 psi. Is it anywhere near unsafe?
An SAFC is alright, but, for the money, just save and get a nicer unit. Wishin' i hadn't spent the money on mine, but, i did. If you buy an AFC, get a wideband too.
Try really hard to get that turbo off and port the wastegate, which won't make you boost less, it just helps prevent boost creep, and surges.
Bigger injectors will help, but, at 10 psi, are you really that close to leaning out? That is something i would check first, before you start dumping money. Most dyno's have an A/F thing. I bet if you took your car to get checked somewhere, they could tell you what your A/F is at 10 psi. Then, it would only cost $50-$60. And, if you get dyno'd, you'll know what kinda HP you have.

yea, N/A to turbo swap.
everything's good as far as that goes.
runs strong with the rebuild.
i'll definitely look into getting it dyno'd.
i wouldn't know if i am leaning out at 10 PSI.
wastegate, i'll definitely try again when i get to 2000 miles or something.
