Security light geeking out after trany pull

I pulled out my transmission last week due to it being f'ed up and im now waiting for the new one to come so i can install it.

But lately ive been in the garage organizing bolts and taking out interior trim (thinking of doing black interior on white S5 vert) and ive been reconecting the battery so i can roll down the windows so i can hear my tunes while working on stuff and it helps to get some light if i drop the top and thats not the problem its when im done and i go to shut the car off, well its not running, but to turn the key back so i can turn off the stereo and pull the key out once the key is out the security light comes on and blinks and beeps and in the idiot light panel the Engine light and the battery light are on but there very very dim almost not able to tell there on and the security light keeps going on and off and beeping even if i shut the doors.

Its odd because untill ive pulled the trany ive never seen the security light on exept for when starting, when all the lights come on for a few seconds. And the fact that it wont shut off untill i disconnect the battery is kinda weird.

Could it be the grounds that i disconnected to drop the transmission? or is it some thing with the battery maybe to tell me its going dead?

I have a good feeling once i install the new transmission this problem will cease but if it is anything id like to get it fixed now while im just sitting around waiting for a transmission.

Matt

Hmmm, usually people short the over the top switch, and reverse light switch when removeing the tranny, although occasionally you see some one shorting the neutral safety switch.

Shorting the reverse light wires blows the meter fuse and causes all sorts of problems.

What else did you connect or disconnect??? and are you sure that this is the stock alarm, not something aftermarket installed??? It is flashing the orange stock Security light right???

The only things i dissconnected other than the harness to the transmission was the ground to the top pass. side bolt on the tranny that just goes right to the fire wall (not sure what that does) and the ground that was one the top drivers side bolt of the tranny.

And yes as far as i know the alarm is stock and like i said ive never seen it on untill now and it is the orange security light im sure of that.

I dont see how i could have shorted anything the battery was disconnected during the pull....although i guess when i reconnected the battery i could have done something but i checked all the fuses in each box and not one is blown.

Well normally when the security light is flashing (one flash every two seconds or so) you can not start the car either. That is why I asked to confirm it is the stock security system.
