Searched... Intake routing possibilities (FMIC with N/A manifolds)

Hey guys, I've searched, but no luck.

I'm trying to look at possibilities of routing a stock TII TMIC in a FMIC position. Basicly I dont know what would effect what, what length, or even how to route it using the N/A manifolds.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet would be to get hold of a T2 manifold and port it to cover the NA intake holes completely.

How would that work with the 6 ports though? I'd like to keep the shortblock in there.
This is a 89 GTU btw... with S4 block/rotors (lower compression )

You can get the t2 intake to fit on the 6 port engine, you just have to port the primary intake ports on the manifold to over the 5th and 6th port. This has been discussed.

EDIT: NOPE Aaron used the NA intake manifold, but you can use his information for help! Try this for size: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/naturbo.htm

Thought of this...

How about mounting it where the P/S would go, and just route it "normally" but backwards...

Im not asking for plans, just asking if its 'feesable' on a semi low budget.

Mount the intercooler where the P/S is? It would heat soak and be worthless in that position. Actually, it might be worse in that position.

lol, sorry, sometimes i just type what I'm thinking, and forget to go into the slightest of detail. ***** me up all the time.

What I meant was... Mount the SUPERCHARGER where the P/S is. I want to keep the A/C... IC will still be FMIC, and then the intake tubing from the IC will come to the pass side, straight to the TB. Get it? I'm not worried about belts, thats the least of my worries... as far as having to go serpentine or whatever.

I have mounted the stock TMIC as a FMIC with the n/a manifolds. What I did was from the turbo outlet it was almost a 180 deg bend with pipe going to bottom of radiator where theres space to pass a pipe through which then connected to the intercooler outlet which is a longer pipe coming out of the intercooler (I suck at explaining things btw if you hadn't noticed lol). Then for the return, I used a hole saw to drill a 2.~ hole (used 2" piping) into the radiator support. then from the hole it was one 90 deg bend a small section of straight pipe and another 90 deg bend into the other outlet of the intercooler. I dont have many pics because I changed intercoolers but hopefully this gives you an idea.

Well, the problem is that with the S/C.. it takes up quite a bit of room next to the TB elbow/opening.

wait.... wait... wait...

WOW!!!

GUYS, I AM SO ******* SORRY.

I just realised I made NOOO mention that I'm SUPERCHARGIN, not turboing...

MY MOTHA ****** BAD!

Geeze, I need to be shot.

As you can see here... the outlet for the m-90 is on top...

This guy (from the famous "n/a supercharging project complete") just went straight to the TB.

I am set on intercooling this baby, and would not like to mess with a water to air...

water to air might be better in your case though... put one or two oil coolers in the airflow and run like that.

my $.02 worth.

Mount it infront by the bumper support, then just run all your piping in next to the radiator, it's the easiest way with the N/a manifolds. Then you can use a 90 degree elbow to bring it over from the outlet on the stock IC. Or you could get a cheap intercooler (starion/etc) and do the piping in a similar fashiong, but with a little bit more workable endtanks.

Also, you can just make your own outlet for the m90 facing any direction. You would die if you saw my setup, but that's not going to be ready for another week or two.
