searched but....

I still cant get a definate answer as to if you have to take the intake manifold off to clean/access the 6port sleves.

any suggestions about cleaning them would be much appreciated also.

Yes, both the upper and lower intake manifold. Might look at some pictures at http://home.earthlink.net/~burntoast/

i think they are just gunked up with carbon, is there any way to try and clean them without taking off the manifold?

Uhhhhhhh. Not that I can think of right now. What happens when you depress the actuator??? Does it rebound ????? I'll stick around for a few minutes for a reply.
