I managed to solve the lock/key situation myself. I re-keyed both door lock cylinders and the glove box cylinder by taking each one apart and swapping/filing the tumblers. The key that the seller gave me now fits the locks. Woot!
Wow man, this project is amazinb because your doing every little thing possible to the car. Your wife better love this! I'm definitely going to shine my gauge bezel like you did! Looks fantastic man keep up the great work!

I bought an s5 ECU (N351) and it should show up on my doorstep any day now, possibly tomorrow. I'm gonna plug it into my GXL to make sure it works so when I fire up the Vert I won't have any unexpected issues. I bought more interior vinyl dye so I will be getting busy with interior pieces over the next few weeks, depending on the weather.

I was wondering about this as well. Started out so good but just kind of faded away
I'd love to see some updates, I'm doing the same thing with my base now. I spent like 4 hours in the engine bay today with a bottle of Simple Green and a tooth brush

Thanks for checking up on this guys. Since my last update in December (damn where did the time go?) I acquired quite a few parts from a donor car a friend of mine had (Celbii on this forum) including a p/s rack, brake parts and interior trim pieces. I'm currently restoring the finish of the interior trim and have some of it installed. I should have been posting up pics but have been busy with life's other projects
I'll update this weekend with pics.

2010 Update:
After collecting several parts since my last update, I'm ready to build the engine for the Vert. I have installed a few interior and exterior trim pieces and bought s5 tails. I'll upload pics this weekend.

Very nice work so far. My TII is undergoing much the same treatment your vert is. In fact, the only reason I am reading this thread is I was taking a lunch break from working in the garage.

Built the keg on Sunday:

I pressurized the core to check for leaks and the pressure started dropping immediately so I'm like WTF?...only to find I hadn't tightened the block drain plug! LOL all is good now:

E-shaft end play was set at .0025"

Thanks. On the iron housings I start with a Roloc disc under constant solvent flow which keeps metal removal to a minimum. I follow up with a sanding block with 400 wet paper. Those are FD rotor housings that were in pretty good shape, although they both had some cracking at the spark plug holes.
