Screaming Vert

So guys and gal's, I am in the process of building a screaming vert for my soon to be 16 year old daughter. I have decided to beef up an NA motor as opposed to dropping a turbo in.

Here is what I ahve procured or done so far for this car:

Drivetrain:
89 Vert
NA motor
Soon to be fresh rebuild with a street port
lighten steel flywheel
Cold Air Box
TB Mod
Intake port matched
Racing Beat Catback
Cleaned injectors
New clutch, hoses and other misc stuff
ss oil cooler hoses

Dont make it go faster but looks good:
Mustang rear spoiler
TII lip (thanks 1987rx7guy for the posting on yours, you got me motivated)
tii hood (Rice is a state of mind here)
fresh pearl black paint job coming soon

I am in need of a c weight rotor to get this thing going. I decided to go with the full rotary aviation rebuild kit since i have 1,000's of $$ in this car. So kids rip it apart, what else would you add?

Oh I forgot, I have had all of the underhood brackets powercoated and replaced the all the vc hoses. I expect that this car will be in full restored stated by july.

Why not get the full racing beat system (header back) either true dual or not (either are fine really)? Unless you have to pass emissions that is. But I think the full exhaust system would give it a lil more pep and sound a lot better, just my 2 cents. Btw, you're a very nice father, I hope she appreciates it =)

Other than that it sounds good. Maybe lower it a little bit, nothing too major for suspension though as she wont (hopefully) use it to its potential I just think a little drop looks better on rx7's. Sound system is good, I wouldnt gor for subs, though, maybe like an mp3 player, good speakers with an amp, and thats it.

I'm a recent Father and Husband, and if I were building this for my own two chicas, I would be concerned with this:

A) Reliability.. Murphy's Law says they'll break down at the most inoportune time. So do you're best to make it reliable.

B) SAFETY... How about a small Roll cage. Some say it's too much, but hopefully she'll never have to use it. It's not cool rolling over in a convertible. My Boss bought his daughter a Miata for her first car, it went from the showroom, straight to the shop for a Roll bar.

Breaks....master cylinder, and some better pads than stock

For looks and some anti-corrosion Ceramic coat the intake manifold.

and Tie all the loose end <- that should keep you WAYY busy.

brakes, I kind of left that out, both hydralic systems are new or rebuilt. Slotted all the way round. I thought about the full RB system. Might add it after the dreaded Missery (Missouri) inspection. I have a friend looking to fab the double small roll bars behind the seat. If it looks good ( like a boxter) I will have chromed or powder coated and add in. I have taken the approach that this car will be completely refurbished. I want her to have a two seater so that she does not have 30 kids crammed in a bug or some other dumb **** car. And, since I travel, it must be reliable. Hell I have enough S5 parts to build a second car given the right body and one damm rotor.

just keep her away from the lounge, lol

EDIT:

Reliability: Don't get an automatic. Period. They will **** out. That said, I've never really had problems other than tranny issues that cuaused excessive amount of downtime.

Safety: Look at it this way, if she can learn to drive this short of a car, where there is practicaly no warning when the back end is going to kick, she'll be ready to drive almost any car.

That said, hope its an n/a.

Well if I had a convertible, I would probably not run without a catalyst. Simply because it would smell really bad if you had your top down, especially for a girl.

I'd check the clutch hydralics if its a manual, just to make sure they wont gunk up, or to make sure the pistons wont stick causing the clutch to go out on her. also, Is my part shipped yet?

Thankyou!

And because I'm curois, how much does it cost to get the fuel injectors cleaned and calibrated, and how hard is it to remove them?

its easy when your rebuilding as your ripping apart the entire motor. It is really about a 1 hour job to pull them. Watch the clips on the connectors as they break easy. Also, watch for the black spacer on injectors in the intermediate housing, its easy to loose. RC engineering and its about 100.00 for the set - money well spent.

Thats a hell of a first car, I think she'll be disappointed if she ever goes to buy her own car. Been building rotaries since the R100 says that this will be a reliable car, especially N/A. Tell your daughter congratulations for me!

Depending on the size of the street port you should be pretty good with fuel.
