schould i get a vert?
so a friend of mine has offered me his rx7 red 1991 vert w/ 70,000 origional miles. the car is flawless and the price is cheap but so far undecided. but i would have to drop my car from the insurance (87 base) and sell my parts car (87 gxl). would you guys do it? and how much do u think i schould pay for the car?

I would do it. You just said it's cheap. Pay as little as possible to get it. If it is truely flawless anything under 4k would be a good too great price. In good condition anything under 3K would be a good to great price.

Personally, having owned both i would say that if you think your going to need space to store things and what not, then go with the coupe. If space isnt an issue and your just looking for a fun car, go with the convertible. Personally i love my vert to death, i am constantly getting compliments. Definitely a worthwhile car.

Depends on where you live. I have a 91 vert with manual tranny. I had a 89 vert with an auto, hated the auto. And, I had 3 coupes before that, that were all manuals. I like the verts, I live in FL, but only like RX7s that are sticks.

I have had an S5 vert for about 6 years, I hated the stock performance but you can upgrade till your hearts content you'll have smokin car. Link to my car:

The only downside I have found is how visible you are with the top down. My other cars are tinted and I enjoy the privacy. In a drop top there is no such privacy. But if attention is what you are after this is the ride.

Get the Vert ! If you're not looking to race/autocross your vehicle, then the tradeoff in performacnce is worth it. Especially on nice days. IMHO. Love my vert ! Besides, as stated by others, you can always increase the performance with some upgrades. Good luck !

I would have to agree with everyone else I have a 89 white vert and there's nothing like it. It was an automatic and now its been changed to a manual transmission. But i use to own a black one and a very close frined of mine use to own 3 different hatchbacks and he wished he would've had a vert there's nothing like people would comliment your car wether its stock or not as long as it looks nice. And I live in miami so it's a great feeling to drop the top and head to south beach there's nothing like it.
