SCH 40 ABS for intake?

for a cai, can I use any abs pie or do I specifically need to find SCH 40 ABS? I went to a hardware store and they had ABS DWV. Can I use that? There weren't any temp ratings or anything on the piping so I don't know if I should get it.

It should work OK on your NA.

It will soften if used near a turbo.

i work at a hardware store and your dwv pipe is used for your hot water...ie from the hot water heater.....the abs sch 40 is used for sewers and drains and what not.....if it was me...i wouldnt put any type of pvp pipe for an intake because most of it will melt pretty fast

pvp? do you mean pvc? I'm going to use abs, not pvc. If abs can handle hot water, I would think it could handle ambient air.

You should be able to get ABS by going to any real plumbing supply store, not a hardware store. Hardware store employees tend not to know the specifics on what they're talking about...

SCH 40 just refers to the thickess. It's just a little less then 1/4" thick. Other common thicknesses are SCH 20 and SCH 10. Generally 20 is the thinnest you will want for an intake.
