Really odd running problem...

...but I'm sure it's simple.

I just purchased a 88 GTU and noticed a strange problem when test driving it.

If I pull out from a parking lot, or stop light, to a sharp left hand turn with more than 1/2 throttle, (or so) once the RX-7 if off balance through the majority of the turn, the engine completely cuts with no throttle response until I straighten the car out. From what I've experienced, it's only left hand turns. It must be fuel related...right? I'm certain the same thing would happen with some spirited driving down a country road, but we have a lot of ice right now!

Thanks guys,
~Jason

That sounds like you have fuel sloshing around in the tank and it is very low. The location of your fuel pump is on the far drivers side of the tank, so this can happen when the fuel is really low. I would assume the tank is baffled to prevent this, so if it happens w/o a low fuel level, you may have bad deterioration in there.

This was when the fuel level was <1/4 tank.

I put 3 gallons in it and it wasn't as bad, but still did it. I haven't tried it since I filled up.

Thanks!

Is it a poor fuel pump that causes the trouble? I've owned tons of S4s and have never come across this issue.
