Scam?

What’s up guys,
I blew my center plates water jacket so I have recently been on the look out for a new iron. That’s when I stumbled upon www.rotaryengine.com or better known as rx7 specialties. On the website I put in an inquiry, and I promptly was sent an email. A man named Adam Heyman responded. We then exchanged many emails finalizing the details. There are a couple things that stand out to me about these exchanges. He asks me to clarify what iron I want and for what engine. But on the website i clearly choose the specific plate that I wanted and for what engine it’s for. So wouldn’t he already know? Also many of his responses have many grammatical errors and misspelled words. It seems like not a lot of effort was made to make these responses. Also in order for me to pay I will have to pay him through a PayPal request that he will send me through an email. All this seems a little fishy to me. I don’t want to get scammed so if anyone has ordered from rx7 specialties before and can back up this method that would be great. Thank you!

People misspell words, there are many who build their careers in the car scene who are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

Looks to be the same guys with their YouTube channel with hundreds of thousands of views in some of their videos.

A google search of “rx7club rx7 specialties” gave me rx7club threads back to 2004. You should probably start there.

I will admit I don’t have any experience buying from them, but I just wanted to say some of those red flags are just human errors or personal choice.

I had some work done by a 70 year old machinist I know. He does excellent work, so even most vintage Ferrari and Lamborghini work comes to him, with a lonngggg wait list. He only took cash, didnt own a credit card, and got sick of PayPal when a customer filed a dispute and PayPal held up his money. I wouldn’t have gone to anyone else.

Keep in mind that if you're buying car parts from Canada they will need to go through US Customs and most likely you'll be charged a tariff on those parts. So, the price you're paying for that part won't be the final price.

I didn't personally buy parts from there, but when I bought my FC, it came with a full windshield decal of "ROTARYENGINE.COM", so I'm guessing its probably legit.
