Just wondering which second gens came with savanna rx7 on the back left? Was it all models in japan, some specific models??? Im asking cause i just found a few oem savanna rx7 stickers that i bought a while ago and was wondering if it would be tasteful or turn my fc retarted. All answers and suggestions appreciated.

Savanna was the brand that the 1st and 2nd gen RX-7 was sold under in Japan.

They were not named Savanna on any other markets except England (which just sold the Japanese cars with slightly different tail lamps anyway).

The only except was the Infini III and Infini IV which were sold as Mazdas rather than Savannas.

So did these savannas still have the mazda badge on the right side and the embossed MAZDA on the bumper of the s5's?

Yes, also had the Mazda on the front bumpers and rear right side above the tail lights.

But the left rear above the lights would have Savanna RX-7 instead of Mazda RX-7

Thanks alot. Im gonna put it on after my paint job in a month or so. Add a bit of jdm styling and uniqueness since I havent seen a fc with this yet. I know its not a big deal cause they sell them on corksport but if i need a logo and have this on hand, why not?

^^That would be much appreciated. Also on another note. Does anyone here watch Initial D? I only ask because, i was just reminded of a discrepency i noticed over the span of several episodes/pictures. In some episodes/pictures Ryosuke's fc has the savanna logo and others the infini logo. Am i buggin or have others realized this? Just a rant..

Er, I watch Initial D, haha. <obvious from avatar..>

There's a few discrepancies here and there, but I think the people who notice it simply watch it too much =P I think another one might be the color of the FD's gauges at night, which are white sometimes (Battle Stage; race vs. Seiji's Evo 4) but also have been red before too (I believe at the end of Episode 4, getting ready to race the Integra Type R on the Uphill.. even though we never see the race T.T). They probably change it midway to make things look better; Keisuke's FD has a worse looking spoiler in Episode 1 of First Stage, compared to the one you see in Battle Stage or Fourth Stage, for example. Just for the record, I believe Ryousuke has an Infini logo as of Episode 5 of Fourth Stage.. so if you see him with a savanna logo after that, give the animators hell I guess =P In episode 6, they pan by the tail of the FC however, and it has no logos on it whatsoever =O

I always thought that the Savannas, Infini III's and IV's were special models in Japan with tuned suspension, no sunroof, and an extra ~13hp. I've also heard of a Savanna Cabriolet. Now I'm completely confused. Anyone know of a page that shows the history of the FC?

As for the emblem, if the Savanna name was just a brand in Japan, I'd say go for it, it's heritage . I always thought it was a special model, and thus taboo to put on an American FC. I was considering putting an Infini badge on my TII since my struts are "tuned for Infini."

I'm an Initial D fan, too. I started watching it because someone told me my car was in it and I've been hooked ever since. The model I have of Ryosuke's FC is an Infini IV.

as posted many times, Mazda Japans history of the RX-7: http://www.mazda.co.jp/history/rx7/Java/index.html

or for the FC american models (but not dial up friendly): http://www.mazdamark.com/about_the_fc.htm

And only the Infini IV had an extra 13 HP.

All FC3C (Convertibles) sold in Japan were Savanna Cabriolets. Again all SA, FB, and FC models sold in Japan were sold under the Savanna name, just like the FD was sold under the eFini name, and the NA Miata's were sold under the Eunos brand.

And struts alone do not make an Infini. On the FC Infini I, and II they were loaded sporty models. Only the GT and Infini III and IV were the lightly optioned racing oriented models.
