is it safe or smart to....

if I want to disasembly my rear struts. is it safe or smart to just remove the center nut, and slowly jack the car up till the springs come loose? or do I really need to go find a spring compresser? I don't need to get them back together.

I can't really see any harm as long as I leave the 2 bolts that hold the mount on done up.

it would save me lots of time

Now that I think about it, the stock spings made the struts shoot down really fast because they weren't fully extended. I don't know how the Eibachs will be though.

Why not just go to AutoZone and get their compressors? It's FREE and it's the Safe way to do it.

scott, i wouldn't do it....

i personally take safety over everything...
and i wouldn't want a compressed spring that flys out and through your fender then through your garage door
