Exclamation SAFCII Wiring help...

Ok guys thanks for your help on my previos posts, Ok my SafcII is arriving tommoroww I read everything on http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/safc.htm for wiring up the safcII but I was talking to eyecandy online and he said to hook the tps line to the pressure line. http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/2ndgen/manu...tems_turbo.pdf is the factory service manual for my car. Go to page 34 it says that 2B is the pressure line. So what I do is hook up everything the way www.1300cc.com has it except crimp the grey wire (tps) to 2B on page 34 in the service manual in the link above. Thank you guys and please tell me if im right or wrong on this.

your throttle readings are perfect because you have an S5 rx7 which has narrow range and full range TPS's. The S4's have only a narrow range TPS which would read 100% throttle or a full 5V when the pedal is at only around 30% of WOT. That's why some people try and hook it up to the pressure sensor. It gives them a broader range.

ah, true i have heard about that problem with the safc and s4s.
didnt know the solution was to hook them up to the pressure sensor.
... also didnt know if the question was being asked about an s4 or s5. ;D

it's not really a solution. I think it may help, but i know a lotta forum guys are against using the pressure sensor. Someone posted something about hooking up a full range TPS somewhere to monitor it, but i don't remember. Presently, I have my SAFCII hooked up to my narrow range TPS and it's almost always 100%. Cruising on the highway at 70mph, i'm around 95% throttle. Kinda sux.

My SAFC II is hooked up to the TPS as well and I too get the same readings of having the throttle at 100% when my foot is like said. Id guess 30% to the floor. This won't affect the maps though will it? I thought that maps are reading off of RPM's. Right now I don't have any maps on it yet so im not worried yet.

well, to compensate, my boost usually starts rising around the 2500-3000 mark. so below 3000RPM i set the maps a somewhat lean for gas mileage... then above it... i start going crazy, because i hardly see above 3000 rpm in a cruise. Also i set my low RPM point to 95% and high RPM point to 99% so that it will be almost exactly at the edge of the lower rpm maps when i'm cruising..~95% throttle. I may try the pressure sensor method one day to see how it turns out.

I do I just splice the throttle wire(grey) to the 2B wire?

2B is the pressure sensor wire. 2G would be your throttle sensor wire. And yes, you would be splicing it.

Yea I have a haynes manual lucky I found a site with my factory service manual and kicks *** that it tells you which letter like for exp: 2g does what. Ok thank you for answering that so for the answer to this question is the grey throttle wire from the safcII splices into the 2B wire or pressure wire to be exact. Should move this thread to safc section and make it a sticky.

the 2B wire IS the pressure wire. mine is spliced into the TPS wire... but i guess you can try the pressure one. Do a search on it... it's been covered before.

give it a try then... some people prefer the tps method and some the pressure sensor method... try both and see which works better for you.
