As i bet most people have removed there original double din stereo then you'll have the space for one of these.

Here it is in my car.
The top draw is a tray and the bottom one is the cup holder. No worries with having drinks in there and changing gears. Also ignore the wayward turbo timer in the right of the pic It is normally hidden.

did you have to trim the merta headunit bezel? to fit the ford cup holders??? or did it fit nice and snug haha.. any pictures of the back side??

i cant decide which set up to go with.. they both are great but each one has its draw backs...

the ac swap cup holder method blocks and makes the center ac useless in a way but not completely it can keep your drinks cold or warm lol!!1

and the tray that goes underneath the radio is okay but makes it hard to change the stations or track when driving, and im sure ill be smacking the drinks when i shift not that i havent already read that you said it doesnt, but i think i still will..

other than that they are both good set ups for those cup holders we take for granted in other cars hahah

thats a smart way to get some cup holders in there

Exactly what I was thinking. Sharp and clear - just like the orange and black don't look anytime except at night! Without being the now overdone white-face gauges.

I dunno. I don't like German cars. I'd be doing the Taurus cupholder mod.
I like the Taurus one better too, although I still have my factory head unit/amp. The vents do have the benefit of heating/cooling drinks - assuming the car has a/c. Otherwise, warm (ambient) vent air will warm cold drinks.

That is not the cupholder from a 95-97 Passat, BTW, so it would have to be the B5 chassis Passat (98-05). The earlier ones have cupholders that look like they were bought cheap at an RV accessory store. Just screws into the passenger side of the console, only holds pop cans, nothing bigger.

In either case, some cool innovative thinking.

you guys dont drive hard enough... any drink in a drinkholder would fly right out of the window of my car.

put a drink bottle behind the passengers seat with a long flex straw into your helmet.... only way to go

i like the way you think! in all the cars iv been in that had cupholders if you drive too hard anyway they just fall or fly right off.

and i seriously doubt anyones a takumi and can drift without breaking water tension. so you got the right idea with drink in the back with a long straw that goes in helmet.

I solve the cup holder problem by getting my beverage in bottles. the I stick them between teh Pass seat and the trans hump. Stays just fine.

My former methode was the "here honey hold this" method. Workd even better. Hell she would even feed me..........

****, now im sad.

I remember seeing an older version of this thread, There is a japanese site that sells those clusters but the prices are marked in YEN. Im sure the OP knows the site that contains the guages, I remember visiting that site but everything was in japanese i paid no attention to it and exited.

P.S. The site above is not the site I saw, and I remember doing the conversion on the other site, it was no more then 200$... that site is a rip off

Ok guys thanks for the all the criticism and YOUR WELCOME for everyone who said thanks for my effort in bringing you this write up. but not to rein on anyone's parade but i was hoping that the main purpose of this thread is to discuss the cupholders, and not the gauges even though i had already posted a thread about them already. I almost wish my threads were stickied.

HOWEVER! because your people are so cool ill be doing another write up soon on gauge options for both S4 and S5.

i know this is an old thread, but i just got a cupholder + coin holder DIN at picknpull off a ford taurus ($5-ish). i copied the picture above where to put it and it does indeed hit the cup holder (while it's holding a rockstar can) when i shift; i have a short shifter + a small ****. i'll prob move it on top and have the deck on bottom.

anyone else have a better cup holder solution? i like the ac vent cup holders in this thread, but they're really pricy on ebay. plus it's hard finding those year 2000+ cars to part off from.

do what clokker did, but swap the logicon above the CD deck and the cup holder in the logicon's old place.

My Cupholders

If I put a 24 oz cup in the holders, no problem at all. I often put a 32 oz cup in these cupholders, but the space is tight. Sometimes the cup will change settings on the stereo if it bumps a button. I can't put any cup in the right holder if it my ipod is plugged in.
