s5 turbo and manifold swap to s4 turbo car
Guys,
My S4 turbine housing is cracked beyond repair. Now is the time to do an S5 turbo and manifold swap. What adjustments are needed to complete the task? I will be using a 2.5-inch RB downpipe .
It's basically a direct bolt on and swap. My suggestion would be to go ahead and get all the new gaskets as well while you are doing the swap or else you are highly likely to have exhaust leaks.
I just recently did this swap. The manifold is a direct swap onto the block, but it does not have the vacuum actuated flapper valve. I just capped the hard line that it attaches to on the rat's nest. I also want to reiterate what others have said about the coolant and oil lines. You need to keep the S4 lines as the S5 lines have a different interface with the block. I also was able to keep the heat shielding around the turbo with some very slight modifications.

Shinka,
Thanks for the advice. I purchased an S5 turbo that is refreshed with the wastegate ported by BNR. It is a complete stock refresh. I am going to run the 2.5" racing beat downpipe to a stock cat with modification for fitment and the RB dual catback. The ported wastegate should do the trick with slight possible creep issues. Is there anything that needs to be done to control the wastegate as the S5 is not manual control but controlled by the ECU?
Thanks G

Make sure the wastegate actuator opens at 6-7 psi. You should put a gauge on it and you can use an air compressor regulated down to 7psi. If you have a higher pressure (~12psi) wastegate actuator, like I had on my S5 BNR turbo, it will not open soon enough and you will overboost without proper tuning.
