S5 TII Turbine Housing Cracks - how big before fatal? Pics

Hey, I'm rebuilding my S5 TII turbine housing and noticed some cracking in side the scroll. I figure it'll be fine, but wondered if there are any rules of thumb about how much cracking turns the housing into a paperweight? Any advice?

Bonus pic of my rebuilt rear suspension.

The housing looks fine, I wouldn't worry about it. Rear suspension looks top notch, finally someone who does it right the first time. I would replace the plastic S5 endlinks with S4 metal ones or aftermarket though as they have a habit of breaking.

I personally would not use it but that's because an engine is no place to screw around second guessing damaged parts. Once an old turbine housing cracks, from experience, i'd like to call it done.

Depends on where the cracks are though. You can heat up the cast and weld them if they're in all the right places. We did that to a t25 turbo i informed the buyer of my old car needed to be welded. I pointed him in the right direction. Car ran strong until the guy who bought the car after him turned it into a "v" hitting a tree. NEVER hand children loaded guns or boosted cars. Anyway, i'm sure that turbo is running fine on a honda somewhere in the area... You could have a go at having it welded.

The reason the housing looks so clean is the new ceramic coating.
I only saw the minor cracks after the silver ceramic improved the contrast. Anyhow, I'm definitely going to use it 'as-is' since welding would be effectively impossible due to the location. I suspect the crack on the scroll ridge will eventually stop once it reaches the thick outer housing. Thanx for the feedback.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm dumping way too much coin into my TII build cause I want it done right. Someday I'll post more details; if I ever finish it that is.

Appears to be. Did you get a load of how clean the rear hubs were?

You have time on your hands for sure! Wow! Cool!
