S5 TII motor to S4 TII car
Came across a s5 Keg, that had a very recent rebuild, streetported. Problem was that a apex seal has cracked. motor still runs and drives. SO before i was going to just s4 TII jspec it. To save myself the hassle of swapping s4 parts to s5 block.
My project car currently has no motor. I have everything else on the car , its ready to be swapped. just needs crate motor ect.
BUT
I dont have All the s4 parts Listed below because i do not have a old motor for it.
So, Not having all those parts Might make this idea of putting this s5 keg in my car more expensive then its worth.
ok. I got this off of rotary ressurections site.
These are the parts on the s4 block i would need to keep .
••
Throttle body with TPS
••
Oil metering pump and front cover
••
Wiring harness with fuel injectors
••
ecu
•• airflow meter
••
water pump housing, water pump, fan
These are the parts listed on his site that i would need to keep off the old car. If i buy the s5 keg, I would still need all the s5 parts to make the rest of the motor up.
The Keg comes with s5 intake and exhaust mani's
-- my thoughts.---
Since motor runs and hasnt blown up, i figure it might not cost too much to crack it open and replace apex seals.
--what i dont know--
Would it be wise to replace All the apex seals on the motor seeing it was reccently rebuilt, or replace the cracked apex seal, or replace all apex seals in that rotor housing. Suggestions please?
The thought of having more HP/ better turbos/manis ect from the s5 stuff not to mention the already streetported motor is appealing while having the s4 electronics. but not having All or part of the parts from either s5 or s4 motor is deterring.
Cost worthy?300$ keg? I dont know, looking to find that out with this thread.
IF a list could be compiled of The parts i would need to add on to this s5 tII block, Not only would it be awesome for me and my knowledge but. Having now searched through 10 pages of Multiple keywords ect on S5 TIi motors to s4 tII car swaps. There was very little Information that I COULD FIND On turbo to turbo swaps. There were lots of NA to turbo swaps. Wether The parts needing to be interchanged are the same i dont kno. so please fill me in if you do. Thanks

S5 t2 engine, t2 s5 transmission, s4 wiring harness repin and depin to make it work with s4 t2 ecu. s4 injectors, fuel pump, driveshaft, what you named, pressure sensor.
If you want to use the s4 transmission, you gotta put the s4 n/a clutch/flywheel/starter on to the s5 keg. It's been covered so many times... It's just easier for s4 = s4. But yeah, change front cover to s4 if you do get the keg.

Yea thats what i thought all this time too. way easier to drop in an already running motor with all the ish on it. especially since i dont have all the extra s4 parts and would have to purchase them.
Why would i need to put a s4 na clutch , fly and PP on the s5 keg. couldnt i use s4 tII.
I have
ECU, injectors, fuel pump, 60k S4 TII tranny. rb SS s4 TII clutch pack. driveshaft.
dont have stock flywheel though.
I pretty much only need the things bolted on to the motor
