I thought some trimming up had to be done to get the s5s to fit correctly?

Yeah, I thought you had to like bend a piece of metal so the S5 connectors fit better.

When installing the S5 in a 86 S4 there are a couple of S4 light plugs which have an extra nub on them which does not match up with the S5 plug hole.A dremel will take care of this fitment issue after a few moments of cutting off the extra nubs.

^ good point i think he meant the s4 upgrade to s5 also. yep just dremal the side nubs and you need the s5 pigtails plugging into the s4 light harness in the rear. been a while since i did mine but it did take about 20 min dremaling and screwing on all those little 10mm nuts. also recommend getting new taillight gaskets lik 15 from the dealer. do it right the first time=spending less time in future correcting your mistakes. plus makes it look better by taking no shortcuts.
