S5 tail lights on S4

S5 tail lights on S4
Hello
I was diggin around but would find exactly what i was looking for...
Ive installed a set of S5 tailights on my 88 SE (not vert lights i know they dont fit) and discovered they dont quite sit right, the ends on the inside part (toward the plate frame stick out about a half inch...I know that you have top trim down the top part of the assembly but they still dont fit quite right.....Has anyone else had this problem? I remember a web site that said soemthing about having to bend a part of the body inward where the tailight go so they fit....
Any suggestions or help would be nice
