S5 T2 Emission Removal and Stand Alone

I have changed my registration from CA to MT. MT has no smogging and I'm thinking about going with removing the emissions and my concern is that I'll have to go standalone or do some modding of the ECU instead of keeping with the stock ECU. Also, if I do emission removal as detailed in one of the threads I found here, can I keep the BPSV on the top of the UIM for ease of idle adjustments.

You can remove all emissions without modding the ECU, 7's aren't like newer cars that rely on the emissions sensor to run properly

Emission removal generaly includes the ACV on the side of the manifold and smog pump. If you remove those, how does air go down the split air pipe to the cat. I'm not planning on replacing the exhaust system.
