S5 Stock Intake Funnel not fitting with N-Flo Koyo Radiator

Hey everyone, I'm just about finishing up my Koyo Radiator install as my stock one started leaking last fall. Because the N-Flo removes the filler neck, the intake funnel ends up being blocked by the rad cap. I had to opt for the N-Flo because the shop closest to me only had the N-Flo in stock, and they gave it to me half price which I couldn't pass up. Has anyone else installed the N-Flo Koyo rad and managed to keep the stock intake funnel? I'm not against getting a cone filter, although I honestly like the look of the stock one. I've also heard there aren't many gains to be made with the cone filter, and I plan on keeping my FC relatively stock power wise. I have also already purchased the drop-in K&N filter long before my radiator started leaking which would be a shame to end up not using. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I had to trim mine as well. I just figured I could always find a replacement if REALLY needed. I used a dremel and file to clean it up.

Very nice looking engine bay. Did you trim down the left side to shift it over and drill new holes or trim by the rad cap?

Cut the center support, grind it down and looks like the intake could be moved forward.
When the OEM rad went in the '89TII a few years ago, I should have purchased a factory unit, but no,
thought I'd go with Koyo, big mistake. First rad they sent was to be installed with mods, so nothing fit,
then sent me what I believe was the N Flo, and that didn't fit properly either. On mine, the center
support didn't line up, so cut it off, ground it down and painted the rad black.

I trimmed a bit too much as you can see but it’s not a focal point in the grand scheme of things. As also the radiator has a thicker core so everything gets shifted slight back towards the engine. You can see the black clip holds the front of the snorkel but the OEM holes are slightly exposed. Untrained eye wouldn’t see it.

As far as I'm concerned, they shouldn't even be advertising that the radiators are replacement for our cars
w/o noting that modifications will be needed. Been years, but when I received the rad and it didn't fit, called
Koyo and it was stated, they are sold with the expectations of the car being modified, but as mine was stock,
they told me to destroy the new rad, send them pictures of the destroyed unit and they would send me another model. Even the one they sent didn't fit w/o mods, and if it wasn't such a PIA, I would have yanked it out and purchased a new factory unit, but in retrospect I didn't, have regretted the desicion ever since.

I've trimmed mine all up and it fits now, did you just bleed the air by running it without the intake tunnel for a bit and just putting it back on after? The funnel obviously doesn't fit when the intake is all connected.
