s5 in to s4 with microtech?
Hey, seeing as I STILL need a motor for my 88 TII, and s4's are IMPOSSIBLE to find, could I buy an s5, and just swap the ecu with the microtech LT8 and not have to worry about buying the s5 ecu? If I can, what else would I need to make this fit? I'm sure someone SOMEWHERE has a made a post about this, I just cant find it, thank you for all your help.

A few minor things I'd guess, but you also get lighter weight rotors. I'd say go for it. If anythings different i'm sure they aren't biggies that we can't help you with.
I plan on doing the same thing.

if you run a s5 you will have lighter rotors. If you run a s4 you can run more boost. More boost is the name of the game. I say buy a s4 port the hell out of it and buy a 9lb flywheel. Then you have more hp and a car that rev's like a bike. But everyone is different.

already talked to dave over at fc3s. I'm sending the money thursday for the s5. Now for the big question, should I buy the stock tii ecu and just get the damn thing running, or hold out for a month or so longer and get the microtech? hmmm, decisions decisions.

first I bet you couldn't even find those for sale within a month. and 2nd it would probably cost more then a mircotech if you did....

Off boost, the S5 engine has better response as well.
If we are talking about a mainly street driven car, then the S5 engine will be better, because the amount of boost you can run is limited by the quality of your pump gas anyways. Usually 18 psi give or take.
What the lower compression S4 engine allows you to do, is extend the limits when really hight boost comes into play.

boost works by pushing denser air into the engine, therefore raising compression, also rotors determine comp. So it's either more compression at the rotors, or more boost. It takes less boost to achieve same numbers with higher comp rotors, correct me if Im wrong. So ya. I agree with the previous post.
