S5 -> S4 interior questions

So today at Pull-a-part I got a few things...

S5 'vert tails ($30 for all three pieces plus wiring harnesses)

S5 idiot light cluster

S5 Convertible Steering Wheel with Airbag

Will the S5 idiot light cluster work alright in my 87.5?

Will the S5 tails (with the standard modifications) fit in my Coupe?

Airbag obviously will not work. haha Don't care...

Thanks!

Verts use a different Idiot light cluster than the others, and it is wired different, in case you got a vert idiot lights and want to use them in a S5 coupe....

and of course the S4 coupes idiot lights wire up completely differently than S5 ones, so unless you make some wiring changes you won't be able to use it.

And you want to have an explosive device less than 24 inches from your face? There is no way in hell I would put a 15+ year old air bag in my car.

-Shrug- Well, I re-soldered the idiot light cluster and tried it just to see what would happen. It made my over-rev buzzer go off and the airbag light illuminated. E-brake caused the fuel light to work. Hatch air bag light went dark when the hatch was closed properly. Door light worked properly, though. Nothing else worked though, because no other sensor was tripped.

I bought the steering wheel because I highly prefer it's look over the stock S4 leather-wrapped wheel. The airbag is not connected...I'm not worried about it spontaneously inflating. The wheel fits fine, but, it contacts the turn signal stock on it's way around. Even in the lowest possible position, it still contacts it slightly. Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this? I thought about shaving bits of the back of the wheel plastics...but I don't know, maybe I'll just sell it. I'd rather use it, if possible though...

After further searching, Icemark, you had said at one point, that the convertible S5 tails will work just fine. And the only thing that I had to worry about is the key-hole...if I wanted to bondo, sand and then re-paint it to get rid of it.

My main concern at the moment is the steering wheel. I *really* want to be able to use it.

You can fit the tail lights to fit the coupe, but you need to tap the metal for mounting and cut or bend it for the reverse lights. Also, you'll have a hole where the truck key should go for the vert. You will have a problem fitting the tag light surrounds. I put the S5 vert tail lights on my 88. It looked acceptable, but missed the hotness from the vert. So I put it back.

I got my s5 vert tails to fit on my coupe, u just have to do some modifications and it fits right in.

In comparison I like the way the vert rather than the coupe (gives a good black contrast to my white 7)
